Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been great the past couple of days and it is only getting better.
Grouper fishing has been as good as it has been all year. We have caught a limit of Grouper each of the past two days. Most of the fish are between 14-25lbs.

We have also released 6 extra grouper over the limit between the two days. We have also caught a limit of amberjack each of the days too.

Fishing for Grouper will remain excellent through the next 2-3 months unfortunately the season will be closed starting January 1st. Remember circle hooks are required by law for bottom fishing now and your are also required to carry a venting tool. Proper venting and circle hooks helps ensure the survival of these awesome and tasty fish out of season. It also helps the juveniles get back down to the bottom easier when released during the open season.
Late yesterday afternoon we trolled for a couple of hours and had 4 sail bites catching 2. We fished an abbreviated 1/2 day today because of weather catching a limit of amberjack and lane snapper. We trolled for about 45 minutes before coming in early. The down side is the fish started to chew on our way in and at last report around 2pm boats have had as many as 15 sail bites trolling just East of the St. Lucie Inlet in 180-220ft of water.

Fishing should continue to improve for the sails with each passing front. So grab your ballyhoo or your goggle eyes and get out and catch you some Christmas sails.
Stuart Fishing Forecast:

Grouper and sailfishing will achieve its peak and remain there for the coming weeks. Because of our mild winter so far you can expect a banner season late. Probably carrying into February.
Target Species:

sailfish, grouper, snapper, amberjack, dolphin, wahoo, tuna, swordfish
