Great Fishing When Weather Allows

Capt. Nick Cremasco
April 5, 2013
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 1:

Today we had some hard SW and West winds which really shut the bite down for us. We trolled for quite a while with only a few bonito and a small dolphin to show for. Today, was the opening day for Vermillion Snapper season so we were prepared to try that for a while. Well, the current proved too strong in all the spots we tried and we were limited to fishing way inshore. We ended up catching a handful of Lane Snapper and plenty of Sea Bass that we had to let go because the season is still closed and we also released a nice size Gag Grouper. Hoping for better dolphin fishing charters and Deep Sea fishing charters out of Jensen Beach Florida in the coming days.

April 2:

Today, our Treasure Coast fishing charter was with Cliff and his guest from the West Coast of Florida. We Started the day catching some live bait for kite fishing and bottom fishing. After filling the well with bait we started kite fishing for dolphin and sailfish on an edge in 135 ft. of water. We didn't have many bites but they were all quality. We caught and released 2 sails and boated a dolphin around 30 lbs. We also had a wahoo bite but missed him. A few boats that were trolling had caught some wahoo and dolphin so we decided to switch gears to trolling for wahoo and dolphin. Unfortunately, the bite had slowed so we switched to a bottom fishing charter for Amberjack and Cobia. Looking forward to a great South Florida fishing charter tomorrow. Spring fishing charters are heating back up so give us a call.

Today we fished a Stuart Fl fishing charter with regulars Tony, Bill, Bob, and Jimmy. We started the day trolling for wahoo and managed to catch Bob his first ever wahoo about 22 lbs. Congrats Bob! The bite was slow and we managed a few Bonito and 1 small dolphin for the fish box. We switched gears to bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Cobia and Amberjack hoping to bend a rod and collect some more dinner. We caught 3 nice Grouper to 20lbs and a couple Sow Genuine Reds to 25lbs that we released. We also released a short size Amberjack. With time winding down on our Stuart Charter we ran inshore to try a couple spots for Cobia. We managed to catch 2 Cobia to 30lbs and some Margates and Sheepshead on crabs in the last 45 minutes of the day. A beautiful day on the water with a lot of quality and variety. Hope to get out tomorrow for our double 1/2 but weather is not looking like it will allow us.

Today we had to cancel our double 1/2 day fishing charters Stuart FL because of weather. Threatening storms, Tornado warning, and high winds has us at the dock for the day. Looks like we will be back at for Saturday after the front passes through.
