Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing for the past week has been pretty good out of Stuart Fl. The Pirates Cove Sailfish Classic set a record for total number of releases for the 3 day tournament. Over 320 fished were released by 28 boats fishing over the 3 days. The best of the fishing happened from Jupiter Inlet North to the St. Lucie Inlet. During this trolling only tournament the Dolphin and Blackfin tuna fishing was great also. The last two days of charter fishing we have fished a couple of hours on the bottom for Grouper and have spent the rest of the day trolling for dolphin and sails.
Yesterday we caught and released 4 out of 6 sails in about 4 hours and we caught a 1/2doz dolphin too. In the morning before we started trolling we caught 3 grouper to 38lbs and some amberjacks to.

Today we caught amberjack and grouper to 25lbs. We also caught some Sea Bass, Triggerfish and Genuine Red Snapper. When we started trolling we caught and released one of our clients first sailfish and then spent the rest of the day trying to catch one on fly. We raised 4 sails while fly fishing and were able to tease one fish to the boat for a bite. We had 4 good going away bite opportunities only to pull the fish off each time. Well better luck next time.
The best depth for the sailfish the last couple of days has been 125-140ft. Trolled ballyhoo has been the preferred method.
