Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Another excellent day of mixed bag fishing out of Stuart Florida. We fished a full day and started out catching a well full of bait with 50 other boats a 1/4 mile off the beach North of the inlet. Tons of life in there with bait, birds, bonito and kingfish.
We ran offshore to get away from the large number of boats and set up in 80 ft. on a slight change. Immediately caught a small gaffer mahi and got clipped by a king. Made a few laps and caught a slightly bigger small gaffer and then jumped a sailfish off. We had a big hammerhead chase some baits around as well. I thought we caught a limit of 8 kingfish but I miscounted we kept 7 and probably had 25 king bites fishing a 2 wire and 2 mono bait spread. We also caught a 1/2 dozen bonito. Saw and heard of a few other mahi in the 80-100 ft. zone as well.
At noon we went bottom fishing and the genuine reds were a nuisance. We did keep a couple vermillion snappers and sea bass and a lane snapper. Brian also caught a nice red grouper for the fryer and a 30 lb. amberjack for the grill. We then came inshore and caught the few snappers but also caught 6 bluefish, 5 senates and a dozen throw-back vermillion.
We spent the last 45 minutes of the day trying for a cobia but only had more kingfish bites.

Weather is great, fishing is good. Give me a call or shoot a text if you're interested in booking a trip inshore or offshore with DayMaker charters. 772-405-0091
