Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report
We had a fair week of fishing out of the St. Lucie inlet. Each trip began with the loading up on live bait and heading out. The dolphin are stll very scattered and hard to find. Barracuda, bonito, and kings are the mainstay, with an occasional sail. The cobia bite has slowed, but some are still being caught. The water temperature close in has dropped into the 70s, slowing the bite somewhat. The snook bite at the inlet rocks is still hot. I had the pleasure this week of putting a father and son, from South Carolina, onto their first snook. They were amazed by the power of these beautiful gamefish. On friday we did it again by bringing a twenty pounder to the boat and releasing it.
Tarpon are still rolling in the shallow water just south of the inlet. They can be caught drifting live baits through that area or sight tossing to them.More later.
Fishing offshore out of the St. Lucie Inlet and inhore on the St. Lucie River and Indian River Lagoon, Captain Kevin Drennan takes up to four people on half, three quarter, and full day trips. He has been fishing the area for eight years and enjoys using light tackle for big fish.
