Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The wind is cranking again and the fleet is working on tackle. We have had a tough couple of weeks with high seas but the days we were able to get offshore were very productive. The dolphin bite was on and we were able to boat some nice fish. There were some nice weed lines that we were able to cash in on and besides the dolphin, there were some sailfish mixed in as well as an occasional blackfin. The high seas were making the water murky so live bait was tough to come by. From eighty feet in, there were kings, bonita, and some large jacks as well as amberjack near structure. A couple of cobia are being caught as well. In the Indian River trout are being caught on the grass flats on either side, depending on the wind. The key is to find water that has not been churned up by the wind. The dime bridge has croaker and black drum as well as ladyfish and jacks. The Roosevelt Bridge has the same and also some snook being caught on both live and artificial baits. The tarpon are beginning to move in also and should pick up the next couple of weeks. All the local fishing tournaments for Memorial Day weekend have been postponed due to the weather predictions so it is a good time to get your gear in order. More later.
