Fishing Report for Indian River & St. Lucie River - Offshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
August 4, 2007
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The red hot fishing we have been enjoying the past two weeks has tapered off a bit. As the live bait gets harder to find it is more difficult to find fish. We caught kings north of the sandpile along with a couple of sails. Bonita and barracuda are just about everywhere and it is hard to get a bonita to the boat without it being attacked by either a cuda or a porpoise. The dolphin bite has been slow and scattered. We have had a few Spanish mackerel on live sardines while fishing for kings. The one bright spot has been snook. The other day we caught and released two while trolling bombers in the north fork on the way out to fish offshore. We later caught two more at the Roosevelt bridge on live sardines while waiting for the railroad trestle to open. A couple of cobia have been caught north of buoy 14. Trout and some big redfish and an occasional snook can be taken up by the power plant on the Indian river. They were hitting on jerk baits and mirro lures. There are tarpon and some big jacks in the north fork of the St. Lucie rver hitting live mullet and DOA terrorize. More later.
