Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing in the past two weeks is slowly improving. As each cold front comes through, the sailfish are increasing in numbers. It is not what it was last year at this time but we hope it just gets better each day. Most of the boats offshore are seeing a few each day. The dolphin bite has been very steady and spread out but most of the fish are small. The other day we had four rods go off on a nice edge in one hundred and twenty feet and only hooked one fish. The other baits had their tails chewed by little dolphin. There are plenty of them so bring a lot of ballyhoo. There is also a decent king bite in seventy five to eighty feet of water. Have some wire aboard if you get into them. The Spanish mackerel are still biting at Peck’s Lake. The other day we had some three and four pounders which really tested our light tackle. There are also bluefish around the inlet and off the beaches. Cut baits are working well for them. The pompano bite has improved a lot the past two weeks. A friend of mine limited out the other day near the Stuart Causeway. Shrimp tipped jigs or sand flees are doing the damage. The Ten Cent Bridge has a variety of sand perch, snapper, croaker, black drum, and even some spotted trout. The shrimp tipped jigs are working well. There are a few snook around and we can’t wait till the season opens in a few days. There are plenty of fish out there so get out and get some. More later.
