Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

February 10, 2013:
Today our 3/4 day fishing charter was with Seth, Zac, Chuck, Charles and Peter. The goal was to catch some sails. We headed out around 11 and caught some live bait. We set the kites up at 1 and immediately caught a small shark. Next a sail was spotted under some grass we were drifting by and we pitched a bait to it. While we were fighting that sail another bit our short kite bait but quickly came off. We caught the first sail and ran back and set out for another drift. 40 minutes later we hooked and landed a double header of sails. Time to go home and 3 happy fellas.
February 11, 2013:
Today we fished with Robin, Annie and Matt for an afternoon 1/2 day fishing charter. We started our day trolling for dolphin and sails. We ended up catching a small dolphin and a couple of bonito. With a nice edge that had made up I decided to switch gears to kite fish for the last hour of the day. We caught a double header of sails both a first for our anglers. We also had some king and shark bites while on our kite fishing charter.

February 12, 2013:
Today our Jensen Beach fishing charter was with Chuck, Nate, Kamden and Kenedy. We started the day trolling for dolphin, sails and tuna but only had a few bites from small bonito. We made some drops on the bottom in 3 knots of North current trying to bend the rod on some AJ's. No action.
Conditions had changed drastically from the day before but before I threw in the towel on the pelagic fishing I decided to put a spread of live baits our and fish through the area we had action the day before. Nate caught a 15lb dolphin and that was our only bite.
We ran inshore and looked for some Cobia before our trip ended. We caught a big nurse shark, 1 cobia we were able to keep and saw some others that we didn't get bites from.

February 13, 2013
This morning we fished a 1/2 day fishing charter and to put it simply it really sucked. We caught plenty of bait and headed offshore. We started kite fishing in 90ft through the areas that have been most consistent over the past 10 days. No Bites.
Slid offshore to 200ft and kite fished over 3 miles of structure with no bites.
Ran inshore and tried to find some Cobia before our day ended and well no gots.
Well the morning was terrible but it is fishing and the last couple of afternoons we have had some sail action so off we went. The afternoon trip (second half-day) started out looking for some Cobia only to tangle with some big sharks. We slid offshore and kite fished some structure in 55ft and missed a sail on our bow kite bait but had no other bites. Ran out to 90ft and made a drift there kite fishing with no bites. Ran back inshore and drifted some structure for Cobia with no action.
Tomorrow is another day...
