Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

October 17:
Today was the first day of the Fall Sailfish Classic and there was overall excellent fishing but the fishing for Sailfish was a little slow. Plenty of good dolphin fishing, fishing for wahoo would have been great if we were not using mono leaders. We also boated a couple of Blackfin tuna on the OUTLAW with the biggest being around 16lbs.
We released 2 Sailfish out of 2 sailfish bites that we had. We saw a 3rd fish that didn't bite. The top boat is the Right Hook from New Smyrna Florida with 4 releases, Wave Paver with 3 then a bunch of boats with 2. Tomorrow is another day...
October 18:
Day 2 of the Fall Sailfish Classic was today and the fishing was entirely different from the day before. We had little to no critter bites (wahoo, mahi and blackfin tuna) but the sailfish were chewing off the transom. We raised 26 Sailfish in 4 hours had 21 bites and were able to release 11 fish for the day to take the daily award and push us into 1st place overall for the tournament. We ended the tournament with 13 releases and the 2nd place boat had 13 releases as well. But because we released our 13th fish first we won the tournament "on time"
2nd place was the Right Hook with 13 releases
3rd place was the J Hook with 9 releases

October 19:
Today we fished with Kurt, Bill, Gerard and Mike. We had excellent fishing catching and releasing 4 Sailfish out of 6 sailfish we saw during the day. In between sailfish bites we had great dolphin action keeping a total of 9 fish Dolphin to 18lbs on our deep sea charter. We also boxed a couple of Blackfin tuna out of a few more Blackfin bites. The biggest fish tipped the scales at 19lbs.
Fall offshore fishing trips should continue to heat up right into the peak Sailfish and dolphin migration which happens in late November through February. Give us a call to book your fishing charter now!

October 20:
I cut our fishing charter short today because I pinched a nerve in my neck and couldn't give 100%. Before this happen we caught a blackfin tuna, mahi, and a 50lba Amberjack for Kurt, Carla and Frank. We were done fishing at 10am.

October 23:
After 3 days of bed rest for my neck injury its time for a test... Marshal is helping me today with getting bait (no heavy lifting) we hit Jupiter this morning and picked up 500 ballyhoo and then Ft. Pierce for 250 mullet. On the road to Cape Canaveral for 4 hours of bait rigging for Team OUTLAW!
Looking forward to fishing the first day of the Ed Dwyer Billfish Classic! A handful of boats fished today and unfortunately fishing was slow. 3 boats caught zero sailfish and the Wave Paver caught 1.
Hope it gets better
October 24:
Capt. Ian ran the OUTLAW today and he put us on the meat. After slow pre-fishing for 1/2 the tournament fleet yesterday Ian was able to find a nest of Sailfish and we were able to capitalize. We raised 18 Sailfish had 13 bites and released a total of 9 fish for the day.
The 2nd place boat is the Wave Paver with 5 releases and then the Right Hook with 3.
Hope the good fishing continues and we can make it happen again tomorrow!

October 25:
Today was the 2nd day of the Ed Dwyer Billfish Classic and fishing on a whole was slower. We saw 3 sailfish, had 3 bites and released 1. Fortunately it was enough to hold onto the overall win for the Ed Dwyer Billfish Classic and allowed us to sweep the 2 tournament series.
Its a great feeling to go into someone else's backyard and be able to compete. Its an even better feeling to be able to go there and win!
We obtained Top boat honors, Top Captain Honors for Capt. Ian, and Top Angler honors for his dad Tom.

What a great weekend.
