Strong Sheepshead Bite

Capt. Bob Bushholz
March 31, 2018
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

In the past month the sheepshead bite has really picked up in a big way. We had 2 trips in a row catching 41 and 45 up to four lbs. using both live and frozen shrimp on 1/4 oz. troll-rite jigs. Even in the inlet with dredging going on the bite has been good. Just outside, the Spanish mackerel are still there but will thin out by mid-April.

Snook bite has been best in the St. Lucie River but moving into the inlet area.

We've up to 52 tripletail for the year. The bite was red hot till the north winds stirred up the river but things are calming down.

Pompano and flounder have been spotty but put in your time and you will hook up. We've also finding black drum and croaker at area bridges.
