Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report
It has been tough trying to fish offshore the past two weeks but we did manage to get out a couple of times and catch a few fish. There was blackfin tuna in three hundred feet which we caught trolling jet heads and rattle jets. Further in we were able to pick at a few dolphin dragging ballhoo because live bait has been hard to come by. A few sailfish have been caught, but the bite has been nothing to brag about. This should change as a couple of cold fronts move in over the next week. Look for blue fish and Spanish mackerel at the inlet chasing glass minnows on the incoming tide. Topwater plugs and small spoons on light tackle will make for a fun time. At the bridges there are croaker, black drum, mangrove snapper, goliath grouper, and snook. Shrimp tipped jigs and live finger mullet will produce fish. For monster snook , the best time to fish is at night. Long A bombers trolled near the shadow lines will do the trick. Switch to top water plugs and slowly drag them through the shadow lines and into the current and hang on. I have a buddy who is out almost every night and using these methods with great success. He also has hooked several nice tarpon also. It should be a windy week coming up but look to get out near next weekend as the winds die down. More later.
