Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

It seems as if the winter winds are beginning to subside, and as it does , the water the water temps rise and the fishing heats up. The offshore bight has been inconsistent with a sails and dolphin, but closer to the beach , there are signs of life everywhere. Schools of big jacks are roaming around pouncing on anything in their path. Spinner sharks are doing their acrobatic jumps into the air. Kings are sky rocketing through pods of glass minnows and blues are near the surf. We had a great day of bottom fishing in which we limited out on beeliners and almost repeated it the following day. The fish are thick and hungry. Moving inside, the pompano bite is winding down but a few are being caught. We had some nice sheepshead fishin shrimp tipped jigs by Hells Gate the other day. Spanish mackerel , jacks , and lady fish were mixed in with them. Snook are becoming much more active and will once again hit topwatwer plugs and chase a live bait. We landed a nice keeper the other day on a live grunt. Look for the fishing to improve as the weather heats up. We are due for a run of cobia through the area soon. More later.
