Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
June 14, 2009
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Click to Enlarge PhotoThe fishing out of Stuart has really picked up the past two weeks. Flat seas and the availability of live bait have put some nice fish in the box. The summer sailfish bite has been picking up. Multiple hookups have been happening with increasing frequency. Dolphin are scattered, but if you are lucky enough to find them you will come in with several fish. Amberjack can be found on the wrecks along with cobia, which have been red hot. We had a forty pounder follow up a big amberjack and we tossed a live sardine his way and the fight was on. We had another break off at the boat as we tried to net it. We used the net because we were not sure it would be thirty three inches to the fork. We do not want to gaff a fish that has to be thrown back. Kings are just about everywhere and if you do not have wire on you will get cut off. We had some vermillion snapper on Six Mile Reef along with some big porgy. The Sandpile has had some mutton snapper along with cobia and kings. We have not fished the river because the action outside has been great. Flat seas are in the forcast for the next few days, so get out there and have some fun. More later.
