Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Two weeks of twenty to thirty mile an hour winds and a tropical storm. Have kept us in port until last weekend. The offshore best bet has been in the Pusbutton Hill area which is about fourteen miles east of the St. Lucie Inlet. Blackfin tuna have been hitting small lures and feathers fairly consistently, but it seems to be a morning or late afternoon bite. There have also been a few dolphin caught in the same area. Closer to shore there are kingfish in about sixty feet of water east of the sand pile and along the beach when the bait schools are near the shore. There are bonita and kings around the Bull Shark Barge which makes it difficult to catch bait there and get it into the boat. Amberjack are holding around reef and structure and you should have no trouble jigging a few up. South of the inlet at the Loran Tower, the bottom bite has been decent for vermillion and porgy. Snook are breeding around the inlet rocks but we like to let them do their thing, so we leave them alone. Tarpon are near the beach chasing bait and can also be found at the Crossroads and near the Roosevelt Bridge. The Evans Crary Bridge is holding croaker, snook, and Goliath grouper. The snook are being hooked at night. We are heading out for some tuna tomorrow and we will keep you posted. More later.
