Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
January 30, 2011
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The weather has for the most part has been good and so has the fishing. The sailfish bite has slowed down a bit but fish are still being caught along with a decent amount of dolphin being boated. Throw in a wahoo or two and the first signs of cobia moving through the area and you will get the picture. The cobia bite was on the Sandpile on live baits. Spanish Mackerel are south of the inlet and can be caught on shiny lures that are retrieved fast. Pompano and bluefish are south of Bathtub Beach from the surf to about fifteen feet. The bottom bite remains strong south of the Loran Tower. Remember that seabass are off limits as of Feb. 12 so they must be released. In the river, look for pompano at the Stuart Causeway Bridge and Hell's Gate. There are finger mullet in the north fork of the St. Lucie River and the bluefish are pounding them against the seawalls. More later.
