Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report
November has been windy, rainy, and Tropical Storm Sean churned for several days north of the Bahamas, but when we were able to get out, the fishing was good. We caught large trigger fish and porgy in seventy feet of water off of the Loran Tower. We also had a few yellowtail and lane snapper, and one nice mutton. Every sea bass we caught were keepers but they had to be thrown back. We also had almaco jacks and margate. We trolled for a bit back towards the inlet and boated a twenty pound bull dolphin. On another trip we caught over a dozen blackfin tuna near Push Button Hill trolling feathers. The tuna bite has been consistent but is best in the morning hours. Last week, the dolphin fishing turned red hot but has cooled off somewhat along with sailfish. Spanish mackerel have showed up and we had all we wanted just south of the inlet the other day. We were using glass minnow lures in chartreuse on a fast and jerky retrieval.
Inside the inlet we boated all the bluefish we wanted using the same lures we used for the mackerel. The incoming tide has been the best. Pompano have been spotty due to murky water and water temperature swings, but it should improve with each cold front. A few are being caught in clean water near the Stuart Causeway. We also had a nice keeper snook on a live mullet in the St. Lucie the other day. More later.
