Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

It has been over a month since we have been able t get offshore but we finally got out yesterday. Spanish mackerel were busting all around us about a mile south of the St. Lucie Inlet. We were hooking up on just about every cast using green glass minnow lures with a small piece of wire. Although a lot of the fish were small, we were able to find some three pounders. The dolphin and sailfish bite has been inconsistent. Some days have been good but for the most part it has been slow except for bonita and barracuda. The best bet is to stay in close where there are plenty jacks, mackerel, and a few bluefish to bend rods. Inside, the pompano bite has been fairly consistent near the Stuart Causeway Bridge and on the Sailfish Flats by the House of Refuge. Also plenty are being caught at the Crossroads at the beginning of the outgoing tide. Be prepared to catch plenty of jacks and ladyfish also. The snook bite is decent at the bridges but will slow up as water temps drop. We are looking forward to the saifish bite taking off with each cold front that passes through. More later.
