Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
May 13, 2013
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

The month of April and the first week of May gave us a great dolphin bite. The fish were widespread and we were catching several on every trip. It has tapered off in the past few days probably due to the west winds which scatter the fish. Blackfin tuna are being caught out on Pushbutton Hill but it has been on and off. Fast trolled feathers have been working well. There have been some sails around but the lack of steady live bait makes them difficult to catch. Look for permit and an occasional cobia on the Sandpile. We caught plenty of catch and release seabass in seventy five feet of water south of the inlet. The season reopens on June 1st. We also boated triggers, porgy, and a variety of snapper in the same area. Inside the inlet, we caught jacks, lady fish, cat fish, and a couple of bonefish on shrimp tipped jigs. near the Ten Cent Bridge we had several seatrout, jacks and ribbonfish. There are plenty of mullet in the St. Lucie River that are being pounded by snook at night. We are looking forward to the mahi bite to pick up when the wind shifts around. More later.
