Stuart Area Offshore and Inshore

Capt. Kevin Drennan
March 12, 2016
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

It has been a wet and windy winter and we are experiencing discharges from Lake Oceechobee but we still have some decent fishing. There are plenty of bluefish and Spanish mackerel south of the inlet being caught on spoons and glass minnow jigs. There are king mackerel also being boated in fifty to sixty feet. We had a great trip off of Hobe Sound where we caught a cooler full of bottom dwellers. Porgy, muttons, mangrove, and lane snapper along with a couple of triggerfish. The lane snapper were the biggest I have seen in a long time. The dolphin bite has been hit and miss but we have not had a lot of fishable days. There are some snook around the inlet that can be hooked on flair haws or live bait if you can find it. Pompano can be caught around the inlet flats and the Stuart Causeway Bridge when the clean water moves in. We are looking forward to getting out again when the winds subside.
