Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Once again the wind is blowing over twenty knots and we are stuck in port. However we had a couple of nice days and we were able to put some fish in the box. A few dolphin are being caught but they have been scattered in different depths. We had a couple of ten pounders the other day but some big ones have also been caught. The sailfish bite has been slow probably due to the small amount of bait fish in the area. The king mackerel are on the increase around the sandpile and north of it. We brought out some live mullet that we had netted in the river and the kings just wailed on them. We also had kings trolling spoons in the same area along with some monster sized jacks. We tried for snapper in one of our favorite spots and all we came up with once again were school sized amberjacks. They either have the snapper too afraid to bite or they have cleared them out of the area. A cobia or two have also been caught under big rays that are making their way through the area. Snook are being caught around the bridges especially at night. Lighted docks are also a good bet. The trout bite has been good in the Indian River when you can find clean water out of the wind. Look for both the dolphin and king bite to really pick up in the coming weeks. More later.
