Good Stuart Bottom and Cobia fishing

Capt. Nick Cremasco
February 13, 2011
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

Prior to the blow the last couple of days we saw some good Cobia fishing. We caught Cobia on the bottom, we caught them on Manta Rays and we caught them on the beach.

These fish seem to be everywhere. Don't be afraid to fish a bait down if you like to live bait you may surprise yourself with a covey rise of nice sized Cobia. Most of the fish we were seeing and catching were around 25-30lbs with a couple over the 50+lb mark.

Bottom fishing continues to be out of this world. No matter where you go you catch big Gag's

and plenty of Snapper of varying species and sizes. We have caught 20lb gags as shallow as 35ft last week and as deep as 160ft. They seem to be everywhere. Try fishing some dead bait or head plugs on the back side of the N swell until the water clarity clears up on the bottom.

Stuart Fishing Forecast:

Look for Cobia fishing to continue to be good to excellent of the coming weeks. We have some East wind forecast on the back side of the front and it may stir some dolphin up. There should still be a scattering of sails and I would be happy now with 2-3 bites a day.

Don't forget the squid and chicken rigs for some Lanes for dinner too!

Target Species:

Cobia, Dolphin, Grouper, Snapper and Sails
