Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 19:
Today we fished with a client from Sebastian and we were looking forward to a great day of Stuart Charter fishing. The forecast was for 10 knots out of the SE but in reality it was more like 15-20 knots out of the S SE. We decided to stay close and to see how things would go. We caught 2 out of 4 Cobia in an hour of charter fishing before having to head in.
April 20:
Today, we cancelled our East Side Tuna charter with Anthony Whitfield because of weather. Hopefully we get to fish locally tomorrow.
April 21:
Cancelled our 1/2 day fishing charter with Adam Curtain and his son because of high winds. Wind has been terrible for us during the month of April. I hope things change soon.
April 22:
We fished with Tim and his guest from Miami. During our fishing charter we encountered adverse conditions with current and wind that made some desired fishing techniques difficult. We started the day looking for some Cobia, but had little or no current making for less than ideal conditions.
Went trolling and caught 2 mahi's and some bonito. Tried live baiting and caught another mahi. We also bottom fished but with no current or a trickle of South tide we had next to no results. Caught a keeper size Genuine Red Snapper which we released and missed a few other bites. We decided to run back inshore and look for cobia. We spent an hour with no results and were ready to throw in the towel.
BUT... We decided to run back offshore and troll again for mahi. We ended up catching 6 more mahi up to 18 lbs. and a couple more bonito before heading in for the day.
April 23:
Northeast winds at 15-20 forces another day off for the month of April. Late cold fronts that are packing no temperature punch just excessive wind continue to plague the Stuart area. Fishing charters have almost come to a standstill this month. I hope things change quickly.
