Tuna Trips and Bottom Fishing

Capt. Nick Cremasco
June 9, 2014
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

June 5:

Today we returned from a two day fishing charter for tuna, dolphin, marlin and bottom fish. Our first day of fishing was excellent catching 4 yellowfin tuna to 45lbs, 6 blackfin tuna to 18lbs, 8 mahi from 15-35lbs. We had a great hour of Blue Marlin action raising 3 fish and getting bites from all 3. The true downside is the fish won and all of them either pulled off or jumped off. UGH!

Our 2nd day of fishing was terribly slow as far as the tuna were concerned. We only found two packs of birds to fish all day but we did end up catching 6 Grouper to 70lbs and 10 snapper that averaged around 7lbs.

Great weather and great fishing overall!

Two day fishing charters rock!

June 6:

Today we fished with regulars Frank, Kurt, Chuck, Steve and George. We had very tough fishing and conditions with ripping north current and adverse conditions. We fished some surface baits for about 2 hours and had a single feeble bite from a sailfish. We did our best to bend the rod on the bottom and only managed a few Genuine Red Snapper that we had to release and a rudder fish. We came inshore and anchored up to find cold water and green slim in 60ft. We pulled the anchor and decided to call it a day.

June 7:

Today we fished with repeats Patrick and Andrew for a full day bottom fishing charter and found some more manageable conditions than yesterday. We caught a limit of Vermillion Snapper, Keeper Lanes and a keeper mutton snapper. We also caught a nice sized Almaco Jack around 20lbs and a 30lb Amberjack. We released multiple Genuine Red Snapper and boxed some porgies as well. We did have 5 nice grouper bites breaking multiple fish off. We only managed to box 1 Gag today.
