West Wind Slows Mahi Bite, Bottom Fishing Instead

Capt. Nick Cremasco
March 26, 2015
Stuart - Saltwater Fishing Report

March 22:

Stuart fishing continues to be tough for dolphin with the west wind and calm weather. We need a little wind out of the Easterly direction to spark back up the Spring Mahi Mahi bite. We caught 1 mahi trolling, 10 nice size lane snapper, 1/2 dozen Amberjacks, some Almaco jacks, sea bass, and a nice size grouper released for another day.

March 23, AM:

Today we fished a morning 1/2 day with regular customer Joe H. and his grandson Phil. Because of the slow dolphin fishing I decided we would spend time bottom fishing for a best chance for action and for taking some fish home for dinner. We had a decent morning catching a lot of Sea Bass, a dozen Lane Snapper and 3 amberjack to 25lbs.

It was a great morning and I look forward to seeing you all again a couple times next year.

March 23, PM:

We cut our afternoon 1/2 day short today because of a passing cold front that created high winds and rain. We caught some snapper, sea bass, calico bass, blue runners, remoras and more in a couple hours of bottom fishing before the weather deteriorated.

March 24:

Today we spent a 1/2 day trolling with Ron and his sons from Chicago. We caught 3 kingfish, 4 bonito and a 20lb Amberjack on the troll!
