Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fall showed up for a short time in Tampa Bay; it was bizarre, it got cold for a few days, then it was like Spring showed up with temps in the lower 80's, which wasn't all bad. I like fishing in shorts in November, who doesn't? So with the above normal temps the inshore bite has been outstanding both on the flats and in the rivers. If you are looking for big snook, right now is the time for that. Red fishing has also been pretty good, so don't count them out.

Let's talk trout for a minute; with the cooler water temps the past three weeks, and with them getting cooler over the next two months, the trout bite will fire off. I love trout fishing with artificials, and my go-to baits are Matrix Shad on a ¼ to 1/8 oz jig head or a MirrOlure 17MR in a variety of colors. We have had some high winds the past few days, but the nice thing about Tampa Bay is there is always a place to hide out of the wind and still catch plenty of fish.

If you're looking for a great light tackle inshore fishing trip in Tampa Bay or in the Clearwater area, give me a ring 727-313-1781
Have a great day
