Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
It has been a whirlwind few weeks here at Tampa Fishing Charters. Not only do I guide in Tampa Bay , I also guide in the Florida Keys mostly fly fishing for permit, bonefish and tarpon. I have been going back and forth alot recently and in the process decided it was time for a new office. I reluctantly put my beloved Maverick Mirage 2 up for sale, and within hours it was sold. After some searching I found my dream skiff a 2016 Maverick HPX-18 with a Yamaha 115 VMAX SHO. Normally this would have been out of my price range, but with some help from friends at Maverick I was able to buy the skiff. It is absolutely amazing, and I am beyond satisified!
Fall fishing has begun and I have put away the cast net for the year and I am throwing top water plugs, soft plastics and flies exclusively. The snook and trout have been chewing the top waters all day long and I am catching some reds on the skitterwalk as well. I like being out at dawn before the boat traffic and to take advantage of the lower light conditions. On the fly front I had a 12 year old land a dandy snook, his first saltwater fish on fly.
