Kids Charity Fishing Trip

Capt. Little Jim Fesperman
March 8, 2012
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Ted 13 and 9 year old Hank's granddad Byron won my "Take a Kid Fishing" trip at the "Indian Rocks Baptist Church Sportsman Expo" a couple of weeks ago. Bryon flew his two grand kids from their home in Minnesota to Pinellas County for their winter break. On Monday we headed out after a cold front came through on Sunday. White bait was no where to be found after the front with the wind blowing out of the north so 10 dozen shrimp was the bait of the day. My plan for the day, considering the weather and wind was to fish docks but the fish had would not cooperate. I knew we needed to make a change. As the bright sun shining warmed the surface water I made a move out to one of my favorite flats in the DeSoto area. Good move! Ted struck first with a nice trout then Hank with a bigger one. So went the next 2 hours trout after trout after trout until every shrimp in the bait well was gone and the boys were happy and a little sunburned. The two boys landed over 25 trout while granddad landed only 4 fish. It was hard for him to fish with a smile that ran ear to ear watching a memory being made that the boys will carry for a life time. Today, I was the winner because they let me come along and drive the boat. Thanks guys you made my day.

Tampa Bay Fishing Forecast:

With water temp's in the low 70 already King fish and Mac's will show up in mass.
