Late Summer Redfish and Tarpon

Capt. Brandon Henley
August 25, 2016
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

August is coming to a close and the kids are back in school. This means less boat traffic and great fishing. The redfish bite has really gotten fired up as of late. Fishing around high water seems to be the ticket. The water is still very warm in the late afternoon, so your best fishing will be earlier in the day. Redfish have been willing to take cut pinfish, pilchards, gold spoons and soft plastics. We have been having some incredible days lately around Tampa Bay.

Tarpon are still in abundance if you know where to look and I have mainly been targeting them while fly fishing. Getting an early start is key. Calm mornings produce the best conditions to find these rolling fish. For more information on Tampa Fly Fishing visit http://tampaflatsfishingcharter.com/tampa-fly-fishing-charters/.
