Capt. John Rivers
September 14, 2018
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa Bay Fishing Report
Rivers to Bay Fishing Charters - R2B Fishing with Capt. John
Summer is on its way out, and that means cooler weather, but not yet, it's still hot outside and the inshore bite is still RED HOT!.
Let's talk about red tide for a minute, NO Red Tide at all in Tampa Bay, Fishing is outstanding!!!
So what's been biting in Tampa Bay? Mangrove Snapper are all over Tampa Bay and I do mean everywhere. It's not hard right now to get your limit of Mangrove Snapper, once you've got your snappers in the ice box, it's time to go fun fishing for snook and reds.

Since just south of us has been hit so hard with Red Tide, I'm not keeping any Snook or Redfish on my fun trips, and I'll be encouraging my charters to release fish as well. If they want some meat for dinner, we'll go Mangrove Snapper fishing. So like I said, after we've got our Snapper's I target Snook and the Snook bite has been outstanding on an incoming tide, along with Redfish. September is still a hot month, but the fishing can be very good as long as you watch the tides and usually starting right now redfish start to show up.

I can say that I think a lot of redfish and snook from Sarasota and the fishing areas to the south of use that were affected from Red Tide, might have moved into our area as were seeing a few more redfish schools than normal which for us is a good thing

But like I stated, I'm going to encourage catch and release on my charters with Redfish and Snook to help the fish population reproduce. A lot of fellow captains in our area are doing the same and this will defiantly help our fishery in the long run.
