Night Time/Residential Dock Fishing Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

This time of the year is an awesome time to get out and explore residential docks, especially ones with lights on them. Here is a prime example of what you could expect to find if you find the right dock. Also, if you're looking for dock lights, plan to look for them before midnight, as many residential areas are restricted to have them off before then. I have always found fishing to be the best the week leading up to the full moon. The full moon this month is on June 8th. I would expect from now 6/1 until a couple of days before the full moon to be some of the best night fishing of the year. I would definitely gear up to a 3000-4000 size reel with 30-40 lb leader at the minimum. Also, try to bring with you a variety of bait. The snook will become wary of the shrimp after a few catches and not want to bite. However, if your geared with greenbacks and pinfish you can keep the action going longer. If you can't find many docks with lights, ook for docks that provide good tidal flow under them. Also, I have always found the docks that look run down and unused can also be productive.
