Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

On two trips this week to north tampa bay I've found the snook feeding like theres no tomorrow, and to my delight most of these fish were over the slot limit.

On a trip early in the week we hooked four very large snook around docks only to be shown how hard it truly is to land these trophy fish. Heavy tackle, proper rod control and lots and lots of luck is required to bring these fish to the boat.

On a trip toward the end of the week to north tampa bay I found more big snook feeding in and around the creek and creek mouths.

These fish were feeding on large pilchards and threadfins that were netted around deep channel markers.

We managed to land a few slot sized fish, and again got into some over the slot fish.

We also added some nice redfish and some very large jack cravelle to the mix.

The redfish have started to school up and are moving out onto the flats. These fish can usually be found in the morning by looking for nervious water and mullet. Use a quiet approach and try to get ahead of these fish, and let them come to you.
Remeber to handle these large snook with care and always take time to revive these fish fully.

Look foward to a great week of fishing and have a quality time on the water.
