Tampa Bay Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Stewart
April 10, 2004
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Where should I start? The fishing is good! Good is not even the word I should use it is more like incredible. As far as inshore fishing goes the Snook, Redfish, and Flounder bite is on! The last couple of weeks the weather has been getting warmer.

This means the fish that have been hungry all winter are moving out of the rivers and into the flats. The fish are going nuts! We have had days with 20 Snook or 20 Redfish, sometimes BETTER! With a variety of fish mixed in with that. Then it comes down to Tarpon! That's right they're back and man there are some big fish.

The last day we fished we hooked 7 fish and boated 3. It was a pretty good bite. We had one fish that was every bit of 200 lbs! It couldn't even jump all the way out of the water; he just came up thrashing his head. It was Awesome! But the last week it's been too windy to get out and Tarpon fish. But hopefully will be able to get out the rest of the week. It's just about the same thing for the offshore fishing it been a little to ruff to get out.
