Tampa Bay Fishing Report

Capt. TJ Stewart
April 13, 2005
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

A little different!

Well its about time I can finally say that there is Tarpon around. We managed to put a fish in the air last week and it was a big fish probably 150 lbs or bigger. It was a big fish but the gentlemen did not get the rod bowed in time. The weather was real nice except for one day but we still got to fish that day as well and we did pretty good. We did manage to change up a little and do some different things.

To start with will talk about the Snook and Red fish we have had a lot of luck. Most of the time we managed to get both of the fish in a frenzy at the same time. One minute we would have two or three Red fish on at one time then we would turn around and have three Snook and so forth. But to say no more the fishing for both was really good! We had a lot of nice fish last week the Red fish of the week was a 29 inch fish. Then we have the Snook of the week that we won our little tournament with the other charter captain. The other captain called and told us that he had caught that his guys had caught a 30 inch Snook. So I talked to the guys and they said they wanted to catch a big fish ,so we managed to catch a 36 inch Snook witch was a awesome fish as you can see in the picture.

Then we have the Trout fishing it has been crazy. If it is Trout you want to catch they have been bitting very good. We had a few days that we caught 30 or more Trout in a short amount of time. With the Trout we have been catching assortment of fish with them Mackerel, Blue fish, Jacks, Flounder, Cat fish, Lady fish, I think I got most of them. The Mackerel have started showing up in the bay pretty good we managed to catch a few really big Mackerel as you can see in the picture.

We did managed to catch a really nice King fish While Tarpon fishing as well last week. It was a really nice fish probable about 25 lbs it put up a great fight we though we had a Tarpon for a short time.
