More South Shore Redfish in Tampa Bay!

Capt. Sean Hagen
March 17, 2011
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The redfishing on Tampa's South Shore has been very good. We are catching alot of top of the slot size redfish. A 26 1/2 incher we boated the other day weighed in at 8.1 oz, a perfect tournament size redfish. We have been landing these fat redfish around oysterbars on the incoming tide. Dead sticking cut bait or gulp shrimp has been our "modus operandi" and it has been working well.

Patience is key when it comes to catching quality redfish. Tampa Bay waters are still very clear on the shallow water grass flats and these redfish are still a little spooky. It is best to arrive before they do; anchor down and wait for them to show up with the incoming tide. I prefer week days because less boat traffic means less fishing pressure, and the redfish appear to be less weary.

If the weather holds, the redfishing should only continue to improve. St Pete Keys should be seeing more redfish activity and bigger fish. So get out there and get-er-done or give me a call and I'll be happy to show you how! Till next time have a safe and quality day on the water, Captain Sean Hagen of www.shamrock-fishing-Charters.com 1877 357-HOOK! Tampa SouthShore Redfishing.
