Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing along the south shore only continues to
to get better with each passing day. The
rise in water temperatures has kick started
spring time feeding patterns.
We have been catching snook and trout from the
rivers to the flats . On a rececent trip to the
Kitchen we caught a 34 inch linesider on the
on the beach outside the spoil islands of the
the mouth of the Alafia. The trout have been
big and fat and continue to be caught along
side snook in the backcountry in good numbers.
Sardines have been the key(on the hook and as
live chum) for both species.
Spanish mackerel bite is still hot and heavy
but the toothy critters can be harder to locate
and stay on in windy conditions.
We have been cathing big jacks in the 10-15 pound
range up the Little Manatee River and around the
sailboat moorings in Apollo Beach. Most of which
have been caught on Scitter Walks and Spooks.
Color has not seemed to matter. Just look for
fish crashing bait and cast towards the action.
As for redfish, last week before the wind
they could be caught in good numbers east of
Port Manatee.But unfortunately I have'nt caught
a redfish the last two trips out. So, if anyone
knows where their at ,feel free to shoot me an
email.
Something to get excited about; The POONS are
starting to show up! So, book your tarpon trip
and party with the"SILVER KING" Tampa Bay style.
Have a safe and quality day on the water.
