March is the start of some of the best fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. It's the time of year when bottom fishing is still good and trolling is starting to heat up, right along with the weather - which makes it nice! This time of year offers great fishing and great weather - the best of both worlds. Grouper, mangrove snapper, porgy, amberjack and gray snapper are all on the menu for this month. And we will be adding a few toothy friends by the end of the month: kingfish and Spanish mackerel. Cut bait is all you need until the weather warms up, and then, the fish will get more active. Acquiring live bait will be time or money well spent.
