Spring Fishing Red Hot In Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Spring is definitely here in Tampa; the temps are just right. Although it's been a bit windy the past couple weeks, the Tampa Bay inshore bite has been outstanding.
Lots of Snook being caught in the 22-26 inch range, with a few keepers coming over the gunnel. It has been quite a decent trout bite for the month so far. Back in February the trout bite was outstanding, then in March it slacked off some, but April so far has been as good as February with lots of keepers going into the ice chest for dinner.

Live baits are working well, along with artificials, and my go to artificials for trout are MirrOlure's 17MR and the XL version. I also like Matrix Shad soft paddle baits on a 1/8 or ¼ oz jig head. If you're using live white baits, use a #1 or 1/0 light mutu wire hook. These hooks are perfect for both trout, snook and redfish. It's what I use when I'm using live bait. If the bait is a big bait, I'll step it up to 2/0 light mutu Gamakatsu.
Redfish have also been pretty good, and cut bait has been the bait of choice the past few weeks. Depths of 3-6 ft of water on an outgoing tide has produced the best bites.

April and May are two of the best months to fish Tampa Bay for big snook and hard pulling redfish.
I have over 15 years' experience of guiding. You'll be fishing on one of the finest fishing machines, my 240 LTS Triton Bay Boat with all the bells and whistles.

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to showing you a great day on the water.
