Tampa Bay Fishing Report 4/29714

Capt. Mark Magni
April 29, 2014
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Wind has been howling for a while, complicating things. Having to go to plan C & D on many days to try to stay out of the wind. With temperatures in the mid 80's everyday makes it feel like summer is here.

Despite the wind the fishing has been good. The key has been White Bait & Moving water. Having to run to the Skyway area to fill the live wells.

On the last few charters the Mangrove Snappers have been keeping my anglers with bent rods. Having to weed through 30 to 40 smaller ones in order to land some nice 12 to 14 inch Mangos for there dinner.

The first part of outgoing tide has allowed us to hook up with a some nice Redfish and Snook coming out of the bushes. Chumming never hurts.

Trout have been a hit and miss fish. Having to move all over the flats to locate them. Once the fish have been located they are hungry and eager to eat. One area might just have small 13 to 14 inch fish move 100 yards look for the bigger ones.

I will be looking for the Tarpon bite to turn on hopefully this week with the New Moon. Have seen them rolling but with the winds have not had any hook ups. It only going to get better in the weeks to come.

The Tampa Bay area has one of the finest Tarpon Fishing to be found in Florida. Tampa Bay offers one of the best opportunities to catch Tarpon averaging 50 to 125 pounds, With Trophy catches in the 150 pound class.
The peek time to catch Tarpon is May thru July. So if you want to hook into one of these monsters and watch them leap out of the water and have some heart stopping actions call and reserve your spot now. Limited spots available.
