Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report
The flats the flats the flats are on fire!
Big reds, snook, and trout have moved on the
the flats and the action has been red hot!
During recent charters the red fish bite has
been explosive. For the last 3 weeks we have
been targeting large schools of breeder size
reds. Free lining large sardines and dead
sticking chuncks of cut lady fish have definately
been the ticket.
While fishing the Red Fish Extreme this past
Saturday we must of landed 30-35 fish most of
which were over 30 inches. My tournament partner
Mike Murray landed one weighing 17 lbs. in a foot
of water on ultra light tackle; a straight up
"snoopy rod". Over the slot reds seemed to be
our curse. We did finally ended up with some nice
slot fish totaling 13.2 lbs. But it wasnt enough
to win,so we settled for third place.
Lets talk snook and trout. They are all over
the flats as well as the beach and the ones we
have been catching have been quality fish.
live sardines and a cork have proven successful
for both snook and trout. Also a 3/8 jig with
a cut threadfin as worked well for bigger snook.
The poons are at the Sky Way and the bites
heating up,so thats where Im headed in the
A M . I'll have a tarpon report in a few days
till then have a safe and quality day on the
water.

reds snook trout
