Tampa Bay July Tarpon Report

Capt. Matt Ercoli
July 12, 2011
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa Bay July Tarpon Report

Well I finally got a day off the water and it's been a while, strong rain has finally put a damper on a day of fishing. I can't complain though because it has been a while since I have had a day off from the Tarpon chase. Tarpon fishing has been great the last few days as it has been all season. Every day we have had many hookups, sometime 2 or 3 at one time. On the very best days the last couple of weeks we have hooked close to 20 per day and on the slow days at least 3 or 4. Consistently good is the best way to describe this Tarpon season thus far. Every day we have had plenty of fish to chase. It's great to leave the dock everyday knowing that if I do my part the fish will do theirs. We have really had very few lulls in the Tarpon action and that makes my job a lot more enjoyable.

It looks as though we should finish July with a really strong and long season. Yesterday proved that things are really looking good for the up and coming weeks. I really haven't had to go far to find a nice school of Tarpon, it seems there are fish everywhere. Not to say we didn't have a lot of fish last week, but there is even more now.

I can't wait to get back on the water; hopefully the weather will clear for tomorrow, if not hopefully the next day. If you would like to get out there and enjoy some great Tarpon fishing I have a few open days scattered throughout the July. Until next time, I hope you have enjoyed my report and as always enjoy your time out on the water.
