Tampa Bay June 4 Fishing Report

Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Tampa Bay June 4 Fishing Report

Tarpon fishing has been extremely good. Up until my last report the most Tarpon we had hooked in a day was 18 this season. One of my full day trips broke that a few days ago, after heading back in at 2:30 in the afternoon having had hooked 21 Tarpon and landing 6. Those are solid hookups and battles not counting the many misses and quick hook up and drops. Tarpon are everywhere and are biting continuously throughout the day. I think my slowest day I had this past week was a ¾ day we only hooked 6 Tarpon but landed 3. The days you land a lot we generally do not hook as many because we lose a lot of time battling fish. The giant fish have moved in and there is 200 pound and larger fish everywhere now. It really does seem like every year the Tarpon fishing gets just a little better, or maybe I just forget how good it really can be. There is nothing like Tarpon fishing in my opinion, and many professional anglers alike, they are the ultimate sport fish. I had one giant 200 pound fish break the morning silence this week that made all the surrounding boats cheer. The fish leaped out of the water so high, with such violent head shakes and acrobatics. I even found myself cheering even after the thousands of Tarpon my boat has hooked up over the years. It was a special fish. Many don't realize some of these Tarpon we are catching can be 50 years or older and have been around the block a few times. Each Tarpon is different and although they all fight when compared to other fish some just have more heart than others. That was a special Tarpon, a warrior of the water.
I have a couple of prime Tarpon slots available; if anyone is interested let me know. Until next time, enjoys your days out on the water.
