Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Richard had tried to get out with me a few times but for one reason or another the plans always had to be postponed. Well the plans finally came together and he was able to do a 1/2 day afternoon trip. The bait was ridiculous so I over loaded the well knowing the tide was going to be slow and I would have to chum alot. The water is crystal clear so I used 25lb fluoro and 1/0 hooks and whitebait. The bite started off a little slow but after a couple of boat repositioning's we found are bite.I see a large snook and a sweet red, so Richard makes a good cast to the area and 3-2-1 the drag is screaming. He is hooked into a Bull Red. After a nice fight and a couple of hair raising moments when the leader was under the fish we finally landed the fish of the day. Richard and Rich had multiple double snook hook ups. Once Rich got out of the bass hook set habit he started putting the fish to the boat but Richard had the hot hand. Richard got his slam early into it but Rich came back and slammed also, but not to be tied Richard caught a second slam. So 2 slams for Richard and 1 slam for Rich. They were competitive in a fun way that made the trip great with the razzing going on back and forth. Their total for the day was 17 Snook, 5 Reds, 5 trout, 4 jacks, 1 flounder and some ladyfish.
Here is Richard with the fish of the day.
