Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The white bait is still plentiful at the Skyway Bridge and is starting to show up on the markers.
Along with the bait are schools of small spanish mackerel being caught off, an around the bridge.

Trout fishing has been explosive on the flats south west of Big Pass. If you can brave the wind, live shrimp under a cork or your favorite jig can get you your limit.

The snook are everywhere. I have been sighting them in all the creek mouths, deep cuts, along mangroves an even on the flats. Many of these fish are slot size an over.

In between cold fronts the snook bite has been good with lots of days in the double digits. April is almost here and the bite will soon be on fire.

I also recently got several reports of tarpon at the Skyway. Capt. George caught a nice poon in the 80 to 100 pound range while rodeoing grouper at the "Way" he reported seeing several roll and said the fish they released was a clean silver color. Which means it was definately not a river fish ,but had to of come from the gulf.
Their making their way to us early this year and with the new relaxed restrictions at the Skyway, its going to be party time baby ,so book your trip today!
