Tampa Bay Summer Time Is On Its Way!

Capt. TJ Stewart
March 11, 2017
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's beginning to feel like spring in Tampa Bay even though a couple of cold fronts continue to sweep through the area. Both bait and fish are showing up in the areas they normally are in the springtime. There is bait on most all of the flats in the Bay now. Look for the birds working in the shallow water in the early morning and you will find it.

Fishing is really good in the mouths of the rivers this time of year. You can usually find a lot of snook and redfish there. With the right tides, you can catch these fish easily. Big trout are also showing up in similar areas. Most of the trout we are catching in the mouth of the rivers are pushing over the 20 inch range, which are great fish to catch. Most of the trout in deeper water are smaller fish. You can catch big numbers of fish in the deeper water, just not big ones.

The water temperature has increased, therefore, the tarpon have started to show up. We have jumped a few each day. As the water temperature continues to rise, we will see more tarpon in the area. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today.
