Tarpon Bite is On!

Capt. Trajan Rodriguez
June 19, 2018
Tampa Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

As the tarpon work their way north during their seasonal migration, we are lucky enough to have them make a stop here in Tampa Bay. Use heavy 8 foot rods that are in the 30-60 lb line class. Bigger reels and 80 lb leader ensure you can get the fish to the boat quickly and ensure a safe release. Make sure to not lift the head or gills of the fish out of the water.

Crabs and threadfin are the best baits to target these. When on the beach, a cork can prove to be very effective. The next week June full moon should be a stellar bite. Many fish pushed offshore to spawn and will be coming back to the passes to feed on the moon.

Got a couple evenings open, give me a call and lets fly some tarpon!
