Anclote River & Crystal Beach: Redfish-Sheepshead-Tarpon

Capt. Joe Angius
November 29, 2014
Tarpon Springs - Saltwater Fishing Report

Redfish are schooling on the flats and oyster bars. Free lined shrimp will work fine, but cut or live pinfish will work best. My tip would be to chum a lot. If you chum too much, sharks and catfish will show up so be wise.

Sheepshead are everywhere and will eat crabs and shrimp. Pinfish will get after your shrimp so a heavier jig head wi help get the bait to the fish before the pins get it.

At the mouth of the anclote river small juvenile tarpon have been rolling. The key is to hit the river at the right time and early; outgoing tide is my favorite. PILCHARDS are a must for these fish.

Good luck and remember to have fun fishing!
