Ten Thousand Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

May 10k Islands Fishing Report
Prime Time Fishing
This has got to be the best time of year to fish! The crowds are dwindling As well as the wind. Glassy calm mornings with tarpon rolling in the bays while snook are popping helpless bait around the mangroves.
The sounds are endless. From the sound of drizzeling rain from the acres of bait to jacks crashings schools as far as the eye can see, mackeral sky rocketing here and there. A blind man could sight fish with his hearing alone! Tarpon gulping air and free jumping in the morning glass off the beaches.
If you have been out anywhere in the last three weeks, you must have noticed the hordes of bait everywhere !! I have never seen so much, in places I've never seen them before. I mean absolute acres of bait EVERYWHERE, the most in my 34 years. I heard another old salt 3rd generation native said thats the most bait he has seen in over 40 years! Long story short, lots of bait, lots of fish!
Buisness this year has been great, meeting so many cool people from so many different places! I want to say thankyou for such a wonderful year!
Pete Esposito and buddy Dave so far have the biggest tarpon of the year for me on fly weighing 165lbs, or Tom Espositos son Dan with the record triple tail at 25 lbs, for over here thats "Giant".Randy Keisler and Jack Robinette completely slamming out 3 out of 4 days. These two brother in laws went back to back on red fish for three hours one day sight fishing the shallows. It was one of those dream about days! Throw in snook up to 32 inches and fat trout in the low 20's. Craig Schumann and "Uncle Jimmy", sight fishing 6 redsfish up to 27 inches, two snook and jumping three tarpon over a hundred pounds in a single day on the fly rod. Can it get any better? Heck yae, when I am on the deck and get the chance to experience this incredible fishing.
The things I have seen happen this year has been amazing. David Dishaw was on the deck and we had about a 125 pound tarpon float up under the bow, he dropped the fly staight down and wiggled the rod tip and the tarpon slammed it, set the hook, cartwheeled five feet from the boat and spit the fly back in the boat! "UNREEL"
Any thing you might want to catch is possible right now. Inshore or offshore spinning tackle to fly rods, bait fishing or plug fishing, the options are endless! Get out if you have the chance. Tight lines and screaming drags to all!
