Ten Thousand Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report
Warming trend bringing HOT action
Now that the water is in the upper 70's to low 80's the fishing has been Hot! Although we still have breezy spring wind the fishing has been good.
Snook are all over the place feeding aggressivly. Flies, top water plugs and soft plastics are all takiing fish. You can find fish in the entire water colomn. I am finding plenty of fish in the skinny water for flyfishing as well as jerkbaits and unweighted soft plastics. And bigger fish on current swepy points near deeper water with topwater plugs in the morning. As the sun climbs higher in the sky the weighted soft plastics are doing there jobs.
Red fish are doing the same as snook and are found in similar places.
Tarpon are here but the windy conditions has been making it tough to site fish laid ups! Angler Ron Fuller of Lexington,Ky landed the biggest one so far at a whopping 130 lb. U.K. angler Paul Tappin jumped four on the fly yesterday ranging from 45 - 80 lbs. all taling a new creation I call the "CREATURE", (better not show Roan, might try to take credit for that one too!) Kind of a crab slash shrimp pattern in natural tones.
Anglers Richard Sutter and father Cort landed 10 nice snook upto 8 lbs and a nice 27" red on their first salt water fishing excursion.
Fishing is getting better each day and the calendar is filling up. Callfor a day on the water and make a memory for a lifetime. Until my next report, tight lines and screaming drags to all!
Come fish the 10,000 Islands and the Everglades National Park for tarpon, snook, red fish and more with either flyrods or light tackle. All artificial no live bait, geared for two anglers.
Fly through the shallows in a Hellsbay Whipray. Fishing with the finest equiptment like Sage fly rods and Bauer reels or St. Croix spin rods and Quantum reels.
Sight fishing is my passion! Target the toughest saltwater species in mere inches of water and fool them into eating year round.
