Ten Thousand Islands - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well the heat is on full throttle, by 8:00 am you are sweating bullets.
If you want to make the most of your fishing trip you must be on the water before sun up.
First light is the key to success! Whether you are chasing snook or tarpon the action starts and ends at the same time.
Tarpon can be found rolling in the slick waters, and snook can be heard from a long ways away by their unique pop when the feed.
Top water action is red hot this time of year for both species. As the sun climbs higher in the sky the action starts to slow down.

There is lots of activity off the beaches where you will find the coolest waters and plenty of bait.
Big jacks in the 10-15 lb. class are around willing to scream some drag. Cruising the beaches of Naples in big schools around the passes.
Trout are still around over the grass beds and pompano too.
Summertime means early starts and back to the dock by noon to escape the heat. If an afternoon showers come in, it cools the surface temp down turning the fish on to fish the sunset bite.
Night fishing for snook under the lighted docks can be non-stop action. The fish are much more active in the cooler hours of night. And with a fly rod you can catch as many as you want.
Another fun method this time of year is to fish under the light of the full moon with either top water flies or plugs. Passes, jetties and points with good moving current will find you fish.
Summertime leaves plenty of options and plenty of empty water to explore and find cooperative fish.
So get out and enjoy the fishing while you can.
There is no signs of oil thank god and with prayer maybe our wonderful fishery will be saved.
Boycott BP.
